INTRODUCING THE EBA MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

The Edmonton Business Association (EBA) wants to get to know you better.  We also want EBA members to get to know you even better.  More importantly, we want more people who could do business with you to get to know you best. With this in mind, the EBA is introducing the EBA Member Spotlight on June 1, 2019, for three lucky EBA members every month. That’s a total of 36 members featured in one year!

What is the EBA Member Spotlight?

Great question!  Earlier this year, you told us in a survey that you wanted to see yourselves and your fellow members take centre stage on our website, newsletter and at events.

The EBA Member Spotlight is an exclusive member perk designed to give EBA members the spotlight to share who they are, what they do and what makes them great - in three different ways.

1)    Blog Spotlight – This is where you (the chosen member for the month) gets to take over our blog and tell everyone about your business: who you are, what you do, why you do it and a tip our members can action.  This is not meant to be a sales pitch but rather an education session. Your company information will link back to your profile on the EBA website, so you’ll want to make sure that’s up to date.

If writing is not your thing, our Communications Chair on the EBA Board has made it easy!  She has created a template which we will share with you.  All you do, is fill in the blanks and send it back to us.  We will review it to ensure it meets with our Mission and Vision and post it for all our members and subscribers to see.

A link to your blog post on the EBA website will then be shared in one of our monthly newsletters that goes out to nearly 1,000 subscribers in the Edmonton area!

2)    Newsletter Spotlight – The second member spotlight will be featured in one of our EBA newsletters, which (again) goes out to nearly 1,000 subscribers in Edmonton metro.  You will be given the opportunity to write a brief introduction – a blurb really – for this, as well.  Just 60 words to tell us about yourself and share a business tip.

This will be accompanied with a link back to your business profile on the EBA website so people can learn more about your business, what you offer and who you are. Once again, you should ensure that your EBA profile is up to date and provides enticing information for people who click through to your contact details.

3)    Monthly Mixer Spotlight – When you are randomly selected to be featured at our monthly mixer, you will have the opportunity to display your company sign and any informational items you might have at the registration table during our EBA Monthly Mixer.  You will also be given a chance to share your short ‘elevator pitch’ during the evening’s event, normally just before or after our door prize draw.  A captive audience! Who could ask for anything more?

You will have one (1) minute to deliver your elevator pitch, two (2) minutes to share a handy business tip and two (2) minutes to answer any questions from the audience. A total of not more than 5 minutes. This too is not meant to be a sales pitch but a way to share who you are and what you do, along with some valuable information for members. The speech will be timed.

HOW ARE MEMBERS SELECTED?

All members in good standing will be added into the random draw for the Member Spotlight on a monthly basis. Selected members can only be chosen once during a 12-month period for each of the Member Spotlight options available and will be required to agree in writing to be featured.  The three selected members will be notified by email the month before to give them the opportunity to prepare.  Each member chosen will have the option to opt out if they do not wish to be featured but will only be added back into the selection rotation after 12 months.

We can’t wait to meet you all and learn all about what makes your business great!
